Desktop Hard Drive Test
Your desktop hard drive is one of the most important items in your computer, without your hard drive there is no where to store your data much less the operating system (Windows, Mac or Linux). A failing hard drive can cause all kinds of problems. For example, your system may take a long time to start up, some programs may give your errors when opening them or they just will not open at all.
Desktop hard drives are run for hours on end. We see a majority of drives start to fail around 26,500 hours or 3 years of consistent use.
We have fine tuned our hard drive test over the 26 years we have been in business. We seen hard drives fail moments after being tested, while others have tens of thousands of hours among other problems and should have failed long ago. The hard truth is that the only certainty in electronics is that they will all fail sooner or later. Our job is to gauge when a drive is starting to fail before complete data loss or system failure occurs.
